A New York Minute

Of all the cities I'm planning on visiting this trip, New York was the one I was the most indifferent about. It's been interesting though. Some places you really can see in a day or two and NYC is not one of them, it just goes on for ever. So what I've gotten in a pretty short amount of time is the feeling that this place is America concentrate. It's basically everything I think of when I think of the US, just more of it. It's got the American new-old buildings, skyscrapers, every kind of shop imaginable, every kind of everything really. And the people, they are every size, shape, color and ethnicity you can imagine. And every seems busy. They're all chatting on cell phones, rushing to a specific shop, watching their heart rate as they jog. No one seems to just be walking.
One of the surprising thing I noticed was the brands. Walking around here is a little like being caught in Logorama, there's every brand your ever seen posted somewhere, yet even though you'll see the Logos, they're actually not that invasive. You're far more likely to find a locally owned deli than a McDonalds. Anyway, just a few thoughts. (I continue to hate blogs, but I promised to keep updating this one till the trip's over.)
